Expressing his support for the bid Neil Rami, Chief Executive of West Midlands Growth Company, said:

“The West Midlands – and Resorts World Arena – is a natural home for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. The event will provide the region with the opportunity to remain in the international major events spotlight, following what promises to be a magnificent Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer.

“Birmingham memorably hosted Eurovision 24 years ago, the last time the contest took place in the UK. Back in 1998, and in each year which has followed, the West Midlands’ events sector has consistently come together to be a trusted, reliable backdrop for world-class, high-profile occasions. This region has the expertise, infrastructure and an unrivalled central location to help deliver events, which leave a lasting economic and cultural impact.

“The West Midlands Growth Company will be working closely with the region’s key stakeholders to support this bid as it progresses.”
