Business outsourcing provider Sigma Connected, who’s head office is in Birmingham, has been named for the second year in a row as one of the UK’s top employers in the prestigious The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list.

Sigma Connected, which provides customer contact services for the utilities, financial, telecommunications and retail sectors, has been accredited once again in the 2024 list within the Big Organisation category, for companies of between 250 and 1,999 employees.

Once again the company is the only business process outsourcer listed in the category for 2024.

The accreditation is based on the scores its 1,200-strong UK workforce provided through a survey. With increases across the board from 2023, the survey saw job satisfaction at an all-time high of 84%, with 84% of employees rating their job satisfaction as ‘excellent’. There was also an average happiness of 81% - 10% above the industry average.

Gary Gilburd, chief executive and co-founder at Sigma Connected said:

“It’s such a proud moment to be recognised on a national scale for the second year running for our positive culture, our values and how we treat and respect our staff.

“The Sunday Times list is significant as it is based on the scores from our people across a range of engagement areas. We’ve surpassed last year’s scores, but overall it shows that through years of hard work, we are maintaining our people centric culture. There is a real feeling of loyalty as people can see they can build a career with us, but also be treated with respect both personally and professionally.

“Over the past few years, we have seen many successes, but to be named for the second time as a leading UK company by The Sunday Times, and the only BPO within our category, is an extra special moment.”

Mike Harfield, chief operating officer and co-founder at Sigma Connected added:

“Over the past 15 years we have managed to keep an all-important family feel at the heart of our business. That has driven a culture of support and respect which has been key to us achieving this tremendous milestone for the second year in a row.

“We are a people-centric business, and we will continue to do everything to keep our teams happy, engaged and motivated to give the best possible service. Our ‘One me, One Sigma’ initiative, which celebrates diversity and inclusion, is at the heart of our business and, alongside our values, creates a safe environment for our colleagues to bring their best version of themselves to work every day. This award is a wonderful piece of recognition for that.”

Co-founded by Mr Gilburd and Mr Harfield in 2011, Sigma Connected has gone onto employ over 5,000 people at its offices in Birmingham, South Africa, Australia and the United States. The company has also won multiple industry awards for its expertise and culture.
