Production Central WM is the region’s new production services agency – a single, specialist point of contact helping film, TV and content creators bring their ideas to life across Birmingham, Coventry, the Black Country and the wider region.
Backed by the Mayor and West Midlands Combined Authority and delivered by West Midlands Growth Company, the service connects producers with everything they need for a smooth and cost-effective shoot: locations, crew, facilities, permissions and practical on-the-ground support. It forms a key part of the region’s commitment to growing the creative industries, as outlined in the West Midlands Growth Plan. Production Central WM exists to make the region easier to film in, easier to work with, and easier to choose.
Why it matters
The West Midlands has long been the home of original storytelling - from Shakespeare to Steven Knight - and today it is one of the UK’s most diverse, best-connected and creatively driven regions. Yet despite its scale and talent, producers have historically found the landscape fragmented and difficult to navigate .
Production Central WM changes that.
By providing a coordinated, industry-facing service, it helps unlock a sector with significant economic potential, generating new jobs, strengthening the supply chain and raising the profile of the region’s screen and content industries. Producers can access location options, build space, facilities, crew, and specialist suppliers all through one route. PCWM brings together the region’s ecosystem so incoming productions no longer need to knock on multiple doors to find what they need.

The team includes senior industry professionals with deep experience in production, location management, skills development and regional networks. Their job is to solve problems early, reduce friction and help productions move quickly and confidently.
Seamless permissions and logistics
From road closures and parking bay suspensions to local authority coordination, the service guides productions through the process, ensuring filming is both efficient and community-minded.

The region offers everything from city streets and historic settings to rural landscapes and industrial spaces. It also includes emerging studio facilities, flexible build spaces and brownfield sites ideal for sustainable set construction.
