With millions of people expected to visit the region from next week for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, it’s more important than ever that we provide the best possible welcome and experience for visitors.

Our city and region frontline workforce are vital to making that incredible first impression and providing a welcoming, memorable experience for visitors, which in turn leads to positive reviews, repeat custom and increased sales.

Working together to deliver a warm welcome

That’s where the Getting Games Ready programme comes in. A short, online training programme to arm your customer-facing employees with all the knowledge they need on the destination and the Games, as well as an extra boost of customer service skills and behaviours training at the same time.

Funded by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Business and Tourism Programme, this training is free of charge for your business. Your employees will follow a series of online modules, which will only take them around 2 hours. All they need is access to the internet.

Get certified and show visitors that you are Games ready!

Once completed, individuals will receive a certificate, as well a formal qualification in the WorldHost Customer Service accreditation, and your business can apply to be a certified ‘Games Ready Business’, demonstrating your contribution to making these Commonwealth Games an overwhelming success. Games Ready businesses will be sent badges for their staff to wear and act as ambassadors of the region, and window vinyls which can be put up to indicate to visitors that they are Games ready.

Visit welcomewm.com to register for the training today. And please share with any relevant businesses or contacts!
