More than 70 partners attended the event and were updated on a number of events and topics happening in the region.

Investment trends and insights

Dan Storer, Chief Investment Officer and Mary Grace Hager, Senior Insights & Analysis Manager at WMGC took the cohort through the region's most recent investment trends and insights. The pair spoke about how foreign direct investment is slowing globally; low carbon is driving investment into the region; some of the recent investment successes in the past year; and, how we can position the region for high growth going forward.

Tata Technologies

Up next, Darion Walters, Director of Strategic Programmes at Tata Technologies discussed the tech giant's investment into the West Midlands and how they have worked with WMGC to make the company's growth targets a reality.

Birmingham Smithfield Update

Selina Mason, Director of Masterplanning at Lendlease showcased the latest Birmingham Smithfield plans. With a number of CGis to share, Selina allowed Partners to visualise how Birmingham will look in the next few years.

Global West Midlands Programme

Katie Trout, Director of Policy and Partnerships at WMGC showed Partners plans for the Global West Midlands Programme, which will be utilising funding from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund to enable investment and visitor economy pipeline conversion and international promotion.

Working with local authorities, academic institutions, public and private sector WMGC will be organising a number of campaigns to fulfil a number of overarching strategic objectives such as creating good jobs for local people; creating and sustaining vibrant places; facilitating the regeneration of the built environment; and, enhancing the region's profile and reputation.

Partners West Midlands: Look Forward

Tracey Davenport, Interim Head of Commercial Partnerships briefly addressed Partners on upcoming activities, which include The Meetings Show, Birmingham Festival 23, UK Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure ForumFinTech Australia, London Tech Week and Birmingham Tech Week.

Birmingham Festival 23

And finally, Raidene Carter, Creative Director at Birmingham Festival 23 showcased Birmingham Festival 23, a free outdoor arts and culture festival coming to Birmingham on 28 July - 6 August 2023.
