The International Working Group on Women and Sport is the world’s largest network dedicated to advancing gender equity in sport and physical activity, and is aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

We’ve welcomed over 600 signatories to the Bright Plus Helsinki Declaration from organisations who have committed to our shared goals. Our Insight Hub collects research, case studies, tool kits and insights from global partners.

We will host the Global Summit on Women and Sport, the largest of its kind, in July 2026 in Birmingham, UK.

We believe strongly in the role sport and physical activity can play in contributing to a world where all women and girls can thrive. Sport Accord provides an ideal opportunity to engage with the sports system globally, to identify and share what we are all learning when it comes to creating systems and cultures welcoming to all.

We are particularly thrilled that Sport Accord is being staged at the ICC, Birmingham, venue for the IWG Women and Sport Global Summit in July 2026. As a WM Regional Partner, we look forward to working with West Midlands Growth Company and others to showcase the many innovative approaches to advancing opportunities for women and girls in the region.
