Adrian Andrew was born and bred in Walsall near J10 and still lives in the borough, in Aldridge.
First elected to Walsall Council in May 2000 for Pheasey Park Farm and has been the Chairman of Barr Beacon Trust for 10 years, a Trust that he was instrumental in establishing. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of Walsall College.
Adrian has held a position on the Cabinet of Walsall Council with the Regeneration portfolio since 2004, when regeneration in Walsall was in its infancy, adding the responsibilities of Deputy Leader of the Council in 2007, which included serving on the BC LEP.
As portfolio holder for Regeneration and Transport for over 10 years, Adrian has been involved with many regeneration projects within the borough, notably securing Accord Housing LoCarbon Homes Factory in Beechdale which has recently expanded to a purpose built factory in Aldridge. He was instrumental in ensuring the technology was used to build houses on the site of the former Beechdale school site as a showcase for the technology within the factory.
In the early days, supporting the building of the new Walsall College Adrian and he has been at the forefront of securing a new cinema for Walsall town centre following a 20 year absence and helping to secure the £7m investment to the town centre with the development of the Primark and Co-operative buildings, the development of the Waterfront and the £26m road scheme investment around Darlaston and Pleck to open up Enterprise Zone sites. Actively involved in securing the development of the International Head Quarters of locally based Jhoots Pharmacy on Walsall’s Gigaport and Handelsbanken.
More recently involved in leading on Walsall Town Centre Masterplan a 20 year vision of regeneration, working with the Mayor of the West Midlands to deliver 3 new rail stations in the borough and a development over 200 apartments to finally complete Walsall Waterfront. Adrian has also politically lead on the Housing First project in Walsall which is a programme to take rough sleepers off the street and to provide them with tenancies and support over a 3 year period.
Adrian formerly worked in Adult Education and most recently has been the Constituency Manager for Eddie Hughes MP and Campaign Manager for Walsall.
Adrian has always had a passion for politics, studying Education and Politics at Keele University, where he met his wife. Adrian has a young family and has a keen interest in gardening, cooking and drinking.
