2025 marks the 125th anniversary of University of Birmingham – and to celebrate, Edgbaston Park Hotel is launching a free lecture series for hotel guests and campus visitors.

Research in Residence will showcase some of the best research happening right here on the hotel’s doorstep. The series begins with Dr Melanie Jouaiti of University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science joining us to talk about how Artificial Intelligence will shape the future of our increasingly digital world.

How the lecture series works:

  • The lectures will be held at Edgbaston Park Hotel on the following dates: Thursday 27 February, Wednesday 26 March, and Thursday 8 May. Each session will start at 4pm.
  • The 30-minute lecture will be followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. There will be complimentary nibbles and drinks can be purchased at the 1900 Bar.
  • These events are completely free to all hotel guests, campus visitors and the University of Birmingham community.

Richard Metcalfe, CEO at Edgbaston Park Hotel, said:

‘I’m incredibly proud that we can share the stories of some of the extraordinary work that takes place at University of Birmingham with our guests at Edgbaston Park Hotel and campus visitors.
