The event celebrated the visitor economy successes in 2022 and reflected on the Business and Tourism Programme, whilst taking a forward look and interactive workshops for guests.

The event had keynote speeches from Raidene Carter, Executive Producer of Birmingham Festival 2023 and Keri Appleford, Senior Business Development Manager at Expedia.

Becky Frall presented the Business and Tourism Programme Tourism in 10 outcomes. Andrew Lovett OBE introduced the members of the new Tourism and Hospitality Advisory Board before their inaugural meeting. Cllr Jayne Francis and Ben Hau from Birmingham City Council, with Anna Anna Bright, Chief Executive of Sustainability West Midlands and Emily Yates, Head of Accessibility and Inclusive Design at MIMA introduced the new Sustainable and Accessible Tourism Hubs which host toolkits for businesses.

A world café workshop took place to give the industry a chance to meet the team, ask questions and give feedback to us to help with business planning for the new Financial Year.

We have had great feedback from industry representatives, including this kind remark from Lucy Canham, Founder of Run of a Kind:

“Thank you for organising this - it was a really well organised event in a beautiful location! I loved hearing from the new board members and getting to meet the WMGC Team.”
