West Midlands’ business events sector bounces back quicker than UK average

  • New research for 2022 highlights that West Midlands hosted four-fifths (78%) of the number of conferences and meetings held pre-pandemic, compared with 73% in the rest of the UK
  • West Midlands welcomed 8.3million delegate visits in 2022, contributing £1.9billion to the regional economy
  • Meetings industry in the West Midlands currently supports 43,000 full-time equivalent jobs

Commonwealth Games economic programme delivers 2,600 jobs

  • Programme aimed at maximising economic opportunities of the Commonwealth Games comes to a close 
  • Since launching in 2021, Business and Tourism Programme (BATP) has helped to deliver record levels of tourism and investment in the West Midlands, including 2,600 jobs  
  • End to BATP marked by event at Library of Birmingham, with benefits expected to continue until 2027.
