Cllr Tony Jefferson image

Tony was first elected to Stratford-on-Avon District Council in 2104. He has held the positions of Chair of Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing and Community Safety before being elected Leader in May 2018.

Tony’s career history spans finance economics and HR. He has worked in heavy manufacturing, energy, financial services and consultancy. The majority of his career has been in the private sector although he has spent substantial time in nationalised industries, mutual companies and the voluntary sector.

He has a very strong interest in economic development for the simple reason that, if the economy thrives, much is possible, if it doesn’t, then there are serious limitations on what can be done.

His personal interests include reading and watching fantasy and science fiction as an antidote to Council meetings.
