Food and Drink | 28 July and 29 July

With high-quality produce and industry-leading technology, the UK remains the world leader in innovation in the food and drink industry.

But there are problems the world needs to address. Now is the time for us to come together and find solutions to the biggest issues affecting the our food sources, including sustainability, decarbonisation and climate change.

Birmingham is developing bold new policies around urban food planning, procurement, and distribution. Working with a network of Commonwealth and global partners and initiatives such as the MILAN Pact and Food Cities 2022.

It’s no secret - the UK’s education system is the envy of the world. The UK’s higher education institutions are some of the most prestigious in the world. We’ve over 600,000 international students currently studying in the UK and 4.9m vocational skills qualifications being achieved globally through the UK’s further education providers.

Data Driven Healthcare | 1 August

Forward-thinking and people-focused. Our healthcare system is the jewel in the UK’s crown. The West Midlands itself is no exception, hosting eight hospitals combined with over thirty-five regional centres of clinical research, with one in five of all UK trials carried out in the region.

The region’s Data-Driven Healthcare proposition is built upon four distinct pillars of opportunity: digital, data, diagnostics and devices. With unparalleled access to electronic clinical and genomic data, we have the capabilities to test and implement new healthcare interventions, unlike any other region.

Creative and Digital Technologies | 3 August

Developers and designers in the UK have created some of the most internationally acclaimed games and immersive experiences such as Tomb Raider and the Grand Theft Auto series as well as being integral to the design and manufacture of cars to the development of new drugs using mixed reality spaces.

Building on the UK's reputation for creativity and invention, CreaTech embraces the commercial and cultural possibilities of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, 5G, and other developing fields.

These interactive, immersive worlds are fast changing our lives – the convergence of creativity and technology now generating platforms for seamless customer service solutions and new business models.

Announced as the UK’s fastest-growing tech sector by the UK government, the West Midlands is on course to create an extra 52,000 jobs, boosting the nation’s economy by £2.7bn - all by 2025. The region is home to the UK’s first multi-city 5G testbed. Our diverse, populated cities offer unique spaces for businesses to trial, test and scale new technologies to market.

Future Mobility | 4 August

Over the next two decades, transport technology will change faster than at any time since the Victorian era. In place of cars powered by fossil fuels and internal combustion engines, we will have electric and autonomous vehicles. High speed rail will transform journeys between our major cities, and hugely enhance freight capacity. Drones will deliver goods to people’s houses. And people will continue to produce and use more data than ever before, with profound implications for transport.

The West Midlands is the UK’s heart of automotive innovation, battery storage and digital rail.

From its extensive supply chain network of well known automotive, rail and aerospace companies, to its world-class academic institutions bringing transformational R&D projects to industry, this event puts a spotlight on the next generation transport tech that is being developed right across the West Midlands.

Tourism | 5 August
