The Management Accountant will provide the business with accurate and timely financial information, ensure all systems and processes minimise any financial risk in an efficient manner. They will lead the Finance team, and promote a proactive environment ensuring that the function is delivered in a compliant and efficient manner.

Main responsibilities and key activities

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Complete and present accurate and timely month end accounts and forecast with incisive analysis and commentary
  • Complete and submit to the pension provider the monthly pension report
  • Responsible for the budgeting and management of overheads to ensure the best quality and most cost-effective solution
  • Continually review, maintain, and improve P&L and Cash-Flow forecasting and reporting
  • Prepare and submit any necessary government grant returns, claims and reports to the relevant external bodies
  • Manage the annual audit to ensure a successful clean audit opinion and Statutory Accounts within agreed deadlines
  • Provide support as and when required on the consolidation of annual budgets

Team Management

  • Management of team to ensure day to day activities are carried out accurately and to time including all transaction work, management of creditors and debtors and submission of VAT returns
  • Provide ad-hoc support on financial/policy queries raised by the team

Stakeholder Management

  • Proactively manage the monthly spend forecast with budget holders to ensure spend happens as forecast and within the agreed phasing
  • Offer adequate training to budget holders to maintain their level of financial knowledge and ensure they understand the financial reports provided to them
  • Provide ad-hoc support on financial/policy queries raised by stakeholders


  • Process the company payroll using the Moorepay system
  • Submit essential HMRC and relevant pension provider information
  • Ensure timely & accurate updates to employees’ payroll are completed 


  • Understand and manage the digital financial reporting system to ensure it delivers clear and accurate management information to all the relevant stakeholders

Processes and Controls

  • Review and authorise all purchase orders to ensure they are in line with the signed contract and the budget
  • Review and authorise the weekly payment run ensuring suppliers are paid to time 
  • Lead and manage the Finance Risk Register to ensure all risks are considered, reported, and mitigated monthly
  • Lead and manage the Finance Process Failures Register to ensure all incidents are documented, reported and potential solutions are presented monthly
  • Manage the Fraud Risk Assessment report and exercise vigilance and awareness to prevent fraudulent or unethical activities 
  • Regularly review and ensure robust financial controls and processes are in place and adhered to ensuring efficient working processes 
  • Review and ensure Finance policies are formally documented and available for staff to access
