The West Midlands Tourism Awards will help to promote the strength of the local visitor economy by celebrating its venues, people, experiences and accommodation. The ceremony will be taking place in February 2020 and you can enter for free here

Tourism already contributes more than £12 billion to the regional economy, while major events on the horizon include Coventry City of Culture 2021 and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.

Nicola Hewitt, Commercial Director at the West Midlands Growth Company, said:

“The West Midlands Tourism Awards will help local companies to make their mark, by winning recognition from industry peers. The awards also give us an opportunity to celebrate the region as a unique, engaging destination, and highlight the critical role that tourism plays in its economic success.

“We wholeheartedly encourage everyone involved in the tourism sector to join us in celebrating this vibrant industry.”

The West Midlands Tourism Awards website will be open for nominations and sponsorship opportunities from Thursday 25 July. The awards will be independently judged, with all entrants receiving feedback.

The winners of each category will be automatically shortlisted for VisitEngland’s National Awards for Excellence, which is taking place in June next year.

The awards were announced at the West Midlands Growth Company’s summer drinks event on 3 July. They will be run with local partners including Reach plc, the West Midlands Combined Authority and Shakespeare’s England.
