Formerly based in serviced offices, Rendel’s move to 1 Edmund Gardens, 121 Edmund Street will support its long-term growth ambitions, with plans to create 40 jobs in the city over the next five years. The investment comes after several important project wins in the region, including contracts with HS2 Ltd, delivering Europe’s largest infrastructure project and Coventry Very Light Rail (CVLR).

Rendel, an Ingerop Group Company, is a multidisciplinary, international design and engineering firm. With existing offices in London, Sydney and Bristol, Rendel has made Birmingham its fourth office location. Prior to 2009, the company had an office in Birmingham which helped deliver the M6 widening project.

The consultancy has been involved in a multitude of critical infrastructure projects both nationally and internationally, including the Thames Barrier in London, the Melbourne Metro tunnels in Australia and Hinkley Point in Somerset.

Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, attended Rendel’s office launch on Tuesday 21 February to meet members of the team and celebrate the consultancy’s growth in the city and future expansion plans.

Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council said:

“As a hub of mobility and engineering, with the West Midlands being the largest region in the UK for manufacturing, it is only fitting that Rendel is growing its presence here.

“Birmingham’s deep pool of specialist talent, with over 30,000 students a year graduating in engineering and tech, can provide Rendel with an abundance of skilled people to fuel their growth plans. We look forward to seeing the company thrive in the region for years to come.”

Vardy Jones, Managing Director of Rendel said:

“Our move into our new Birmingham offices is one filled with optimism. With new project wins and a growing team, a larger permanent office space was the logical next step for us as an organisation. Birmingham has a huge pool of local talent which made it an obvious choice as a location to establish our presence.

“Another key reason we decided to expand in the West Midlands is the region’s impressive connectivity and central location, enabling us to easily serve clients across the UK and overseas. Since expanding back to Birmingham in 2019, we have grown from one local representative to 18 team members and we’re looking forward to continuing our growth journey here.”
