The event, which focuses on the business of show business, will present lively debates around key topics in the creative industry and beyond, such as economics, education, employment and training.

Best-selling author (The Boy with the Top Knot), journalist (The Times), and Wolverhampton native, Sathnam Sanghera, will host a Q&A with a panel of esteemed speakers looking at how education is viewed in different communities and how this affects contributions to this diverse city.

The speaker panel includes Gurdip Bhangoo (Head of Future Skills & Events at BBC Academy), Claire Mowbray (Chief Executive, National College for High-Speed Rail) and Professor David Roberts, National Teaching Fellow (Birmingham City University).

During the event, questions will be raised about how arts organisations can contribute more to this region and perhaps even help shape more inclusive and ambitious businesses.

Judith Greenburgh, Head of Business Development at Birmingham Hippodrome commented:

“In modern, urban, culturally-diverse societies like the West Midlands, what influences, experiences and interpretations are being missed in businesses and why? In this second in our series of Creative Conversations, we look at this and more with a great panel of well-respected leaders in their fields.

"Do something different with your lunch-hour and come and join this important discussion. After a great two-course lunch you’ll certainly take home some food for thought”.

Nicola Hewitt, Commercial Director at the West Midlands Growth Company, commented:

“The West Midlands’ cultural scene is renowned for its bold thinking and originality, which significantly contributes to the region’s economic success. Creativity inspires our businesses to innovate and make their mark. It also shapes the West Midlands’ unique identity, which helps to attract new visitors and investment here.

“Creative Conversations provides an opportunity to consider the value of culture to a range of different sectors. There isn’t a region better placed to lead this discussion, and I encourage people from across all industries to join us and find out more.”

In our next Creative Conversations event, Rosie Millard OBE, broadcaster and Chair of Hull City of Culture 2017 will be talking to leading names representing academia, politics and place-making.
