The School of Architecture and Built Environment will be offering two online Master’s programmes in Building Information Modelling (BIM) for Integrated Construction by Distance Learning and Construction Project Management by Distance Learning.
Professor Mohammed Arif, Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment, said:
“This is a new chapter in the evolution of the School of Architecture and Built Environment.
“The School has a well-established track record of offering these two courses via a traditional attendance route, but as we continue to grow, these courses will now be offered by Distance Learning. Using our state of the art online learning facilities, students will be able to engage with the course material, the course teaching team and their peers through our dedicated Virtual Learning Environment. Lectures will be broadcast and made available to catch up ‘on demand' for those who may not be able to attend. The courses are aimed for those who cannot commit to attending the University full time and so will suit those currently employed within the industry or those who are based overseas.
“The courses will be taught by the same academic experts who deliver the existing campus-based offering and will be supported by our usual range of guest lectures from industry-based practitioners, ensuring that students are receiving the best possible information.
“We have been very successful in promoting construction education in the region. However, in order to increase our Global footprint and impact, it is important that we look at blended learning provisions. This is one of several initiatives underway within the school to further promote construction education regionally, nationally and globally.”
The School of Architecture and Built Environment offers a range of courses including Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Design, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Geography and Environmental Health.
Anyone wanting to study Architecture and Built Environment courses should register for the next Open Day on Saturday 17th August 2019.
