The spectacular event will transform Bullring & Grand Central’s St Martin’s Square and balcony into a dazzling, multi-sensory experience with a series of breath-taking interactive light installations designed to surprise and delight children and adults alike.

The nocturnal festival will see a diverse set of themed installations centred around some of the planet earth’s most spectacular natural phenomena which include:

Wave consists of some 500 individual suspended orbs, brought to life through light and sound to create a walkthrough immersive experience reminiscent of the ocean.

Control No Control invites guests to use their hands and body to act on its sound and graphics, creating a unique experience for each and every individual.

Lightbattle X consists of two sets of five bicycles facing each other, where the public will use pedal power to project beams of light to the opposite side in an attempt to defeat their opponents.

Stephanie Lacey, General Manager at Bullring & Grand Central, said:

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the spectacular ‘Festival of Light’ for the first time. It’s a fantastic addition to our annual programme and showcases Bullring & Grand Central not only as a mecca for shoppers and diners but also a dynamic space for cultural events. The installations are truly amazing, engaging all the senses and we can’t wait to unveil them to the people of Birmingham and beyond.”

The Festival of Light is free to attend and open each evening from 5pm – 10pm from Friday, 1 March to Sunday, 10 March 2019.
